On April 11, our young compatriot Maya Gamzu reached the semi-finals of the second season of the prestigious Canadian television reality talent show Canada’s Got Talent, which is held in Toronto. Her performance of Christina Aguilera's "Something's Got A Hold On Me" captivated the audience, and so impressed the judge, famous rapper Cardinal Offishall, that he pressed the Golden Buzzer button for her, which immediately brought the young contestant into the semi-finals.
Originally from Israel, 14-year-old Maya Gamzu began singing at age 3. In 2018, her family moved to Canada, where singing songs in English helped her learn the language and adapt to the new country. Radio Megapolis Toronto correspondent Marina Beregovskaya asked the director of the Star School Academy, Zhanna Stepanova, to talk about this competition and her student’s victory.
