Some 19,000 of the more than 20,000 residents of Yellowknife, the capital of the Northwest Territories in Canada, have evacuated the city as wildfires approach. The Province of Ontario sent people and equipment to fight fires in the Northwest Territories. Toronto authorities are looking at the idea of raising property taxes and parking fees as a means to help balance the budget in the face of its huge deficit. On Friday, the Canadian National Exhibition, or "CNE" as the city's residents call it, opened in Toronto. The annual event held at Exhibition Place includes rides, carnival games and incredible food.
