Post-Tropical Storm Lee made landfall on Canada's Atlantic coast on Saturday, September 16, bringing flooding, high waves and power outages affecting tens of thousands of homes. More than 117,000 homes were without power in Nova Scotia, about 18,500 customers were in the dark in New Brunswick and about 2,000 homes were without power in Prince Edward Island. After repeated pleas from businesses, the federal government decided to give them one more year to repay their CEBA loan. The rights holders of a number of feature films have begun a serious hunt for Canadians who illegally download copies of feature films from torrents. Average rents in Canada have reached another record high, with the cost of renting a one-bedroom apartment rising by more than $100 a month to just over $2,100 since May, according to the latest report from rentals.ca. Todd McCarthy, who became Ontario's deputy transport minister in early September, confirmed that the government plans to introduce a new ride-sharing policy for TTC and GO Transit riders in the province in February.
