Statistics Canada reports that the country's population has reached a new milestone - 40 million people. Canada continues to lead the G7 in terms of population growth, with more than one million people added between January 2021 and 2022, the most in a single year, according to StatCan. Smoke from wildfires that rage in the north of the province, once again covered the sky of the Canadian capital of Ottawa. Firefighters from Portugal and Spain are due to arrive in Canada to help put out wildfires. Earlier, a helping hand was extended to Canada from France, the USA, and South Africa. The situation is currently assessed as the most difficult in the 21st century. In Alberta, 14,000 people have been evacuated from their homes, and 7,200 in Quebec.
